The Other Shoe

Maybe you won't think this is funny, but I do: The famous shoe-throwing Iraqi has a shoe thrown at him by another Iraqi in Paris. Don't miss the video.

What is it with these guys??
If the Americans in Iraq had taken the time to teach them anything about baseball, their aim would have been better.
Both were way outside the strike zone.
But I have to admit, bushes reflexes were a heck of a lot better than this yokel.

"bushes reflexes were a heck of a lot better"

George Bush's time in the Texas Rangers front office didn't hurt. Maybe if the current chief executive had put in time in a performance-based business his perspective would be different. Nah; never happen.

(If you're a baseball fan, check YouTube for Nolan Ryan striking out Ricky Henderson for one of his milestone strikeouts---with the future pres in attendance.)

I wonder if this guy will be tortured as well.

Yeah, remember all those World Series the Rangers won when Bush was there? And that Arbusto, what a successful enterprise!

JJE,

And the Yankees went how many years between World Series, spending how much?

Never mind. The point is, in sports, unlike politics, individual performance gets you on the squad and earns playing time; consistent performance keeps you there and earns you more money. As one black American conservative told Glen Beck recently, there's no affirmative action in football.

If more Americans appreciated that sports ARE the real world, not an escape from it, we'd all be better off.

There is affirmative action in football - which is why there are so few white running backs in the pros. Exhibit B - JaMarcus Russell - explain how that guy is still playing.

He then fielded questions on his famous assault on Mr Bush on December 14 last year, which was shown around the world and made him a hero in the Arab world.

The chap throws both shoes and misses both times. Indeed, this a great victory for the Arab world, just like 1967.
