The lights are on, but is anybody in?

Iran will not attend the upcoming G-8 summit in Italy. Not because Iran refused to. Because Iran simply has not answered. Here is what the Italian foreign minister said:

"With three days to go, I still do not have a reply: I must consider that Iran has declined the invitation," Frattini, who will host the summit, told Italian television. "Iran has lost an opportunity by not participating in the conference."

This was Iran's first opportunity to respond to President Obama's offer of engagement, an opportunity to demonstrate that Iran might be able to play a positive role in Afghanistan. Clearly the Iranian regime has another engagement that is more pressing.

They are still invited to visit US embassies to celebrate the Fourth of July. I don't think much will come of that either.

I certainly hope they avoid the infamy of the US hosting representatives of the thuggish dictatorship on the Fourth, the day we celebrate freedom and independence, both qualities in short supply in Iran. If they show up, I hope they are served pork wieners.

FROM CAROL HERMAN

Walk with me down memory lane, a minute. Because I remember Richard Nixon. And, he once said about one of his political enemies: "GOOD. LET HIM TWIST SLOWLY IN THE WIND."

Sure, Nixon found out you can't break the law even when you're the president of the United States. He held on, however, until the GOP broke ranks. Up until that point ... When RODINO (a republican from New Jersey), climbed on board the Impeachment bus; Nixon was gonna tough it out.

Bill CLinton, on the other hand, did tough it out.

While Obama? All he will probably do is push democrats out of Congress; sending them packing. Democrats hate that. And, so far? Seem unaware of the developing "equation."

That's how it is when you're up there, spinning slowly in the wind.

FROM CAROL HERMAN

Just another minute more. For Bill Clinton there was James Carville. For Obama? Well, if you knew James Carville, you'd know that Rahm Emanuel is no James Carville.

Though, go ahead. There are no teachers here with red pencils, to mark your opinions right or wrong.

But five months into Bill Clinton's first term, everyone not only knew James Carville's name, he was a big hit on the TV circuit. To this day, he has kept his clout.

You say you don't hear him speak? And, I agree. Bill Clinton has also been extremely quiet. Do you wonder why?

Well, like I said, Rahm Emanuel is not James Carville. And, Robert Gibbs is an idiot! Today, he said "Obama won't change his tone because there are no tanks, yet, on the steets of Tehran."

What is it with Obama, that he is so poorly served?

Iran can play a very valuable role in Afghanistan.

Afghan president Karzai is a close friend and ally of Khamenei. PM Karzai endorsed Ahmenijad's reelection.

Iran has offered to play a large role in training and equipping the ANSF (Afghan National Security Forces) in the past. I hope that Iran contributes to CSTC-A going forward. Iran can also contribute more economically to Afghanistan.

Hey anand, did you dance a little victory jig when your beloved regime of Islamofascist savages murdered that young woman protestor? Or did you cry in your beer because she wasn't a Jooooo?
