Interviewed at NOW Lebanon

Hanin Ghaddar interviewed me at NOW Lebanon over coffee as I was wrapping up my recent trip to Beirut. The transcript is a bit rough and ungrammatical, but it’s perfectly readable.

The comments there are rude and obnoxious because the deranged “Angry Arab” blog linked to the interview and sent his troll squad over. It might be nice if a few friendly voices posted a comment or two for some balance.

Thumbs up! Michael. You definitely have written better blogs but you are always right on target and consistent.
You are one of few who really gets it and fully understand the situation in Lebanon. And no, one cannot just rely on the media here to understand what goes on in that region (they have a long way to go). I hope you will have a better exposure in this country (Charlie Rose should have you on his show). The media needs people like you. It is very encouraging to find independent american reporters who share the views of the majority of the Lebanese people.

Angry Arab really is deranged. Here's his lame attempt to make excuses for Sudanese genocidaire Bashir:

This arrest warrant is a joke, of course and will not be taken seriously outside of the offices of the New York Times...I mean, will that body issue an arrest warrant for Bush or any American president if he/she were to drop a nuclear bomb on an entire country or continent? Of course, not. But then again: how can the White Man resist the temptation to preach and sermonize? The White Man can't resist that opportunity.

Even the Muslim Brotherhood's defense was less dishonest and openly manipulative. Can't wait to see Juan Cole's effort.

Funny, I thought Arabs were white.

Speaking of dishonest and manipulative, Maryatexitzero forgot to include this part of the angryarab statement, coincidentally the part where he condemns Bashir--

"I mean, let us say that Bashir (a lousy dictator with very low intelligence level and a skill in turning into a buffoon before a crowd, with a history of cooperation with Western governments--overt and covert) is responsible for much of the bloodshed in Darfur, his record pales by that (if you count the numbers of victims) of George W. Bush."

Personally, I applaud the attempt to bring Bashir to justice, just as I would applaud an attempt to do the same for Bush, but Angryarab is right--the latter is unlikely, for some reason.

Yes, mildly criticize the genocidal dictator, downplay Bashir's crimes while claiming that the trial is an example of 'racism'. The same propaganda points are made by the Muslim Brotherhood, in their post on Ikhwanweb.

Sorry that I didn't include the entire propaganda clip from Angry Arab and the Brotherhood, but we've all heard this routine before, we know how it goes. First they play the racist card, then there are thinly veiled threats of terrorism (see Juan Cole).

European governments are frightened and as a result, Arab 'nation' members gain concessions on other, unrelated issues. The genocidal dictator is never brought to trial and the Left is stupid enough to see this as a victory for one revolution or another.
