Slow Blogging

Slow blogging again. Sorry, I know I keep saying that. I'm planning a trip to the East Coast. It will be partly social and partly work-related. I'm also buying a car over there and saving many thousands of dollars by doing it. So I'll be driving back. Should be fun. More material from Israel will be posted before I leave.

"So I'll be driving back."

I'm looking forward to your photo essay on driving across the US.

Please tell us the details on the car deal. Thanks.

I bought a used Acura RSX from a dealer on Ebay. (Had a mechanic take a look at it for me first.) Saved at least 5,000 by not buying locally because I got the best deal in the entire country. And, hey, I get a road trip out of it.

Hi Michael,

You've often alluded to the fact that Iraqi Kurds are massively out of step with Iraqi Arabs in having no problem with Israel.

As a result, thought you'd be interested in the following BBC report about Israelis training the Kurds.

Will be interested to see the reaction from the Arab well as Israel's partial allies in Turkey:

"So I'll be driving back."

Ask people you meet along the way which party they're going to vote for and why in November.

Just checked my Site Meter. Two people from Lebanon read my blog in the last three hours. So I don't think I'm actually blocked there...

Many years ago my brother, after landing a job in the movie business in LA, bought a Mazda Miata on the east coast (where we're from), insured it in Philadelphia for full replacement value, and drove it to LA. Not only did he get a better price on the car, when he ruining it by driving off-road for a bit to avoid an accident in LA (miatas are not the sturdiest car in the world), he actually got more $$$ from the insurance company than he'd spent on the car.
But mindful of that little experience of offroading, his next car was a jeep.
