More from the Gaza Border

So I went back to the Gaza border and interviewed IDF Major Tal Lev-Ram just as a huge Palestinian tunnel being dug on its way to Israel was located and bombed. We talked with the sound of machine gun fire off in the distance. Good times.

The very short “newsy” version is posted over at Time. I’ll have a much longer and in-depth version posted here when I get a chance to write it.

All tunnels should be pumped full of pig waste, sealed on the israeli side and pumped to where every they lead....

A vey deep moat dug around the entire enclave of Gaza was once tossed around. Maybe the idea should be dusted off once more.

There was movie in 1981 called Escape from New York where if I remember correctly, the city had gotten so bad they just walled it off and created a penal colony of it. Is that what we are witnessing here? Where two competing police forces have armed standoffs, kidnappers are left free to roam and even announce their rules for future kidnappings of non-Muslims, policemen shoot up administration offices. And no money, or means to earn it. The welfare state is a mean mother.

Perhaps it is just that the smart and mobile have already given up and have escaped or planning to. Meaning that it's becoming only the connected, the muscled, the weak, and the poor that are left to deal with both domestic crime and violence and the IDF vs. militant clashes. And can anyone or any event turn it around? Something tells me statehood won't be the magic bullet.

Statehood "could" be the magic bullet, if it came with Hamas recognizing Israel and accepting peaceful borders.

They would do it if they were really "desparate" -- but the EU will make sure the hungry people, whose only job is "gov't" and whose only "life" is Jew-hate, get money so they can keep living, and hating, and planning on murdering Jews. Or getting some other sucker to murder Jews.

The EU cash for Jew-murder is terrible.

Time? Well, with your narrative skills it's about time!
