New Site Banner

Thanks to Charles Johnson for designing a new site banner for me just in time for my six month trip to the Middle East. (If the old one still appears click Refresh in your browser.)

The picture on the left was taken of me by my wife Shelly overlooking the old city and harbor in Sousse, Tunisia, two summers ago. On the right is a national-unity necklace I picked up in downtown Beirut as Syrian troops were leaving Lebanon.

Johnson should be helping you with your site given that he has now attached money to it.

BTW, the background behind Middle East Journal might work well with images of shifting sand, al Aqsa, or March 14. I understand the paper motif since this is a journal, but the left and the right pictures far outdo it.

Shouldn't you wait until you've been there, I don't know, a week or so before anointing yourself as Mr. Middle East?

Failing that, perhaps you could contact the Guinness folks to see if they have a category for "World's Most Self-Congratulatory Tourist." ;-)

Now this is clearly discriminatory,and might even be un-Constitutional given the general direction of society.

Adolescent insults are the primary, if not the only, means of expression for 'certain' types. To ban these outburts of deeply felt fervour, must surely limit the ability of these contributors to in fact, contribute.
