Thanks for Voting Early. Now Please Vote Often.

This cannot stand.

Patterico is asking his readers to vote for him again in the Wizbang blog awards. So now he's gaining on me. How can I compete with him if he pulls a stunt like that and I don't?

He runs a pretty good blog, so there's no hard feelings here. But I don't see him running off to places like Libya and posting extensive photo galleries of places almost no one has ever seen. My blog is better!

Vote for me again. Please. Thanks in advance.

It's neck and neck right now.

So, help us out and tell us how to cheat ;)

Posted by: chuck at December 7, 2004 02:24 PM

Talk to Kos. He will have his minions stuff the ballot box for you. I think they are practicing for 2008.

Posted by: Lee at December 7, 2004 02:44 PM

As of 3pm, it's 18% vs 17% (you are ahead).

Posted by: Norm C. at December 7, 2004 03:03 PM

You shameless, vanity beggar you:). I'm off on your behalf.

Posted by: spc67 at December 7, 2004 03:09 PM

Michael's blog is pulling slightly ahead right now, but this is no time to become complacent.

Posted by: David at December 7, 2004 03:17 PM

Um, I don't get it. What's the point of these awards again?

Posted by: double-plus-ungood at December 7, 2004 03:39 PM

DPU: What's the point of these awards again?

The big bucks!

No, really, it's all about ego, my friend.

Posted by: Michael J. Totten at December 7, 2004 03:55 PM

No, really, it's all about ego, my friend

I could give you the double-plus-ungood award for best center-wing blog if that would help. And it would be the only one ever issued.

Posted by: double-plus-ungood at December 7, 2004 04:23 PM

Scrolling down on Right Wing News we come across "The Best Blog Overall".

Running second is Little Green Footballs".

These small details are revealing, if somewhat depressing.

Posted by: Benjamin at December 7, 2004 06:25 PM

Okay, I voted for you again. I mean it when I say that you do great work, and I almost never disagree with you (which is a bit scary). (See here and here).

Can I shamelessly plug my new blog in this comment? I guess I just did.

Posted by: Todd Pearson at December 7, 2004 07:18 PM

Todd

Do you, or do you not, support the death penalty?

Posted by: Benjamin at December 7, 2004 08:16 PM

Benjamin,

What does the death penalty have to do with this discussion? (I oppose it, if anyone cares. Nazi hangings at Nuremberg and Saddam's upcoming execution excepted.)

Posted by: Michael J. Totten at December 7, 2004 08:41 PM

Nazi hangings at Nuremberg and Saddam's upcoming execution excepted.

I wonder if you can get odds on Saddam becoming leader of Iraq again.

I imagine they'd be long. I wonder how long.

Posted by: Mork at December 7, 2004 08:52 PM

Michael,
I voted for you. I'll vote for you often. ;-)
Just wanted you to know how much I've enjoyed reading your wonderful blog including the pics from your recent overseas trip!

Hang in there & best of luck to you!

Posted by: Marilyn Mahoney at December 7, 2004 08:53 PM

Michael

I was addressing the question to Todd Pearson who is not entirely clear on the matter on his blog.

Posted by: Benjamin at December 7, 2004 09:13 PM

Got my vote for you in. Looks like its going to be close. Also I would like to say, your one of the best examples of what bloging is all about. Keep up the good work.

Posted by: Brian at December 7, 2004 09:42 PM

And one more vote from the land of corn, for good measure...

It's now 18.9% to 17.0%. You've opened up almost a 2-point lead (also known as some odd 80 votes if you stop and do the math). That "Meryl Yourish" person is coming out of nowhere, though. I shall, therefore, vote for you again tomorrow.

Posted by: Grant McEntire at December 8, 2004 12:25 AM

Totally Unrelated PS...

Eliot Spitzer has now finally entered the race for Governor. Woo-hoo! Another sane Democrat and future president enters the national spotlight!

There's only one other person New Yorkers love more, but I fear he's far too centrist to ever win the presidential nomination of his party. Thank God Spitzer, the centrist across the aisle, will never have to worry about that problem when his time comes.

Posted by: Grant McEntire at December 8, 2004 02:58 AM

Eliot Spitzer has now finally entered the race for Governor. Woo-hoo! Another sane Democrat and future president enters the national spotlight!

C'mon Grant, you don't think the GOP would demonize him as a north-eastern liberal if ever he ran for national office?

And given the enthusiasm with which you sucked up the propaganda on Kerry (another genuine centrist) you would probably be singing right along.

And then there's the fun that they'd have with his religion.

Posted by: Mork at December 8, 2004 03:26 AM

Well, one thing one can sort of legally do is vote every day at work ... and every day, again, at home.

But if you think of it as two lives, maybe it's not cheating? Nah; it's cheating.

I've been voting each day; once. But you, Patterico, AND Jane Galt are all better than Ace of Spades -- so I'm switching from Donald Sensing to Jane on Top 100 Blog.

And I like Glenn and Powerline both better than Charles at LGF, although only LGF has comments. Somehow not as interesting as here, though.

ScrappleFace vs IMAO, Scott or Frank. THAT's a real tough choice.

Posted by: Tom Grey - Liberty Dad at December 8, 2004 07:05 AM

I voted for you, and you are ahead...your site is really good...loved yr pieces on yr trip...the fact that you are up there at or near the top should be a huge compliment, even if you don't win

Posted by: BillBC at December 8, 2004 07:36 AM

Tom Grey,

I never heard whether we have a deal worked out.

Are you voting for me? A free book hangs in the balance . . .

Posted by: Patterico at December 8, 2004 11:16 AM

Patterico,

Is that whif of desperation coming from your direction? It sure ain't coming from me.

Posted by: Michael J. Totten at December 8, 2004 03:34 PM

You are leading, but I wouldn't be taunting my opponent if I were leading by such a slim margin.

Actually, knowing myself as I do, I might . . .

Posted by: Patterico at December 8, 2004 06:06 PM

We're just following. Ancient history. If I vote for you. Will you vote for me?

Posted by: Jim Treacher at December 8, 2004 10:00 PM

Jim:

Speaking for myself: yes.

In fact, the offer is explicitly stated at my blog. Blogroll me, endorse me, and vote for me; I'll do the same for you. And I'll vote for you every day until the contest ends.

To show my good faith, I just did vote for you.

Now, what has Michael Totten done for you lately?

Exactly.

I agree with you the way you view the issue. I remember Jack London once said everything positive has a negative side; everything negative has positive side. It is also interesting to see different viewpoints & learn useful things in the discussion.
