RIYADH (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia's religious authorities have ordered Muslims to shun the "pagan" holiday of Valentine's Day so as not to incur God's wrath, the local al-Riyadh newspaper said Friday.According to these clowns, God hates love, sex, romance, pagans, Christians, and holidays. But I don't see their authorities saying they are to hate Christians, or hate sex, or hate romance. They seem to be saying it is not a Muslim holiday, so you shouldn't have anything to do with it.
It's not what I would do, but it doesn't sound all that far out too me. IDIC.

And you can't say "Happy Mother's Day," either, I guess, since you're not supposed to acknowledge it or congratulate anyone (or risk God's anger and punishment).
Valentine's Day is verboten because it's a celebration of romance, whereas the arranged marriage is the ideal if you're a Muslim. But I didn't know that was religious, I thought it was a leftover tribal custom.
The concept of "fun" seems kind of remote to me here. I'm sure that's just my ignorance.
After all, my first impulse is to view all of this as ridiculous superstition.

However, Muslims are proscribed to be friendly to other denominations. And that’s the point anne.elk – your hiding behind ignorance is not an argument. As a matter of fact it might be a matter of survival for you, as a Jew, to remember this basic tenet of Islam.
