Last weekend I went on a whirlwind road trip through the American West with my friend and Portland blogger Sean LaFreniere. Here are some photos from Sean’s digital camera.

Great fotos. Was that SF shot from "top of the hill, Daly City"? (home of radio-overhyped shops, in the 80's)

The photo was shot from inside San Francisco. I forget the name of the hill, but it wasn't in Daly City. It was one of the "twin peaks."

My cousin lives out in Portland, all she does is say how great it is out there. I definitely have to visit some day. Show me to the nearest slopes!! Mt. Hood, i would imagine, would be my first trail to ride.

I have neevr really been out west, but your photos (inclduing ones of downtown Portland) really make me want to viist. I envy you, though I imagine you feel the same about me growing up in New Orleans and seeing much of the world on your tax dollars...btw thanks for that, too :)

Great pictures. One of my greatest loves, going south east of I-5. The mountain 'lodge' looks like a forest service office though. No pictures of Fort Rock? Sean's pictures say you were in Christmas Valley, its almost criminal not to have a FR picture. Did you go through Lobster Crossing Nev.? About 70 miles north of Tonopah.

I dunno why we didn't snap a picture of Fort Rock. We drove right on past it. Probably because we were in a hurry after crossing the Cascades at a slug's pace...

OMG! I agree with Independent George. I have said that so many times. Mike - you really do look like that guy in "The Usual Suspects." You are Stephen Baldwin's twin ... You also look like MacGyver (is that spelled right?) of cheesy television fame. HA!

(But then, I shouldn't talk. People have told me I look like Debbie Gibson. Not exactly a good association. On the other hand, I have been compared to Carrie Fisher, in the first Star Wars. I take that one as a compliment).

The shot of downtown was taken from "Twin Peaks". It is one of two large hills. The one in question cant be missed, it has a large, forked radio tower on it. It also has a large tourist park and pay to view through telescopes station. It should be a standard stop on anyone's trip to SF.

The forest service building is McKenzie River Ranger Station in the Willamette National Forest.
