A Compromise Solution

A few days ago I asked all you readers how I should spend my working hours during the next month before I return to Baghdad. The quandary was this: should I write and publish my remaining two dispatches from the Balkans, or spend a full month working on my book From Beirut to Baghdad? I have only written one chapter so far, and there will be nine or ten in the end.

Yet another new suggestion, Michael:
Allow me, and/or perhaps others, to re-read your old blog and create an e-book based purely on the best of your blog posts.

This would allow you to get a 'book' published (?)(reader-supported published? a new model! ) even before you finish your real book -- but with little work on your part.
I can imagine lots of ways of doing this, but it's only worth it if you'd be up to agree to authorize something like this. Real hardback book (cheap to make in Slovakia!), available on Amazon, maybe other places.
Your first person current history will, like all good history, never be 'out of date' -- and even predictions or analyses that are later proven wrong by events are valuable. (Often the most valuable, for lessons learned.)
